Copa is offering tickets for $252 R/T from DC, Boston, Chicago, NYC, LA, Miami and Orlando to Barranquilla, Colombia. This is a gorgeous deal, especially since on the way you have a 8-15 hour layover in Panama City, which is plenty of time to explore the city, go to the beach and/or see the Panama Canal – a real two-for-one special!
I found out about this flight courtesy of The Flight Deal, a must-follow Twitter account. You can even get each tweet sent to your phone, like a text message, so you won’t ever miss a deal.
I don’t know anything about Barranquilla except that it’s on the ocean, which means beach, and has a world-famous Carnaval.
Here is some tourist information about Barranquilla:
Of course, once you are in the port city of Barranquilla, you can fly or take the bus to any one of a number of awesome Colombian cities, including Medellin (the number 11 place on the New York Times’ 52 Places To Go In 2015), Bogota and Cartagena. The islands of Aruba and Curacao are also short flights away, about the same distance as Panama City-Barranquilla.
So, guaranteed beach in two countries – possibly three – and a jumping-off point to anywhere in Central and South America. What’s not to love?
