Earlier today, I received a handy reminder text from Chase informing me I should activate my Chase Freedom 5% cashback / 5x Ultimate Rewards (UR) points bonus for Q2 2014. Chase makes it simple – I just have to text back a codeword and my bonus is activated!
1) You are out to eat with a group of friends and the bill is $100. Rather than splitting the bill, have them pay you with cash or Venmo. You then pay the restaurant with your Freedom credit card, which earns you 500 – rather than the normal 100 – UR points. It’s simple and a easy way to rack up points!
2) Lowe’s sells tons of gift cards to restaurants, supply stores, electronics stores – basically everywhere! So, before you head to those establishments, head to Lowe’s and first buy the gift cards. They code out the same as a regular purchase of, let’s say lumber, would, so you earn 5x UR points with these purchases, rather than the normal 1x UR point!
The maximum number of UR points you can earn is 7500 (1500 x 5). You can redeem 7500 UR points for $75 as a statement credit, use the 7500 points in the Ultimate Rewards online mall as $75 worth of credit, or transfer the points to other Chase UR-earning credit cards, like the Chase Ink family and the Chase Sapphire family.
So, go sign up – how often do you get free money for responding to a text message?
