United just sent out an email stating that all travel purchased for and traveled by November 21, 2013 in the continental U.S. is eligible for double miles.
This is good news for people who haven’t bought Thanksgiving plane tickets, but not for frequent fliers looking to achieve status with United, as the T&C’s state that:
- This offer does not apply to Premier qualifying miles (PQM), class-of-service bonus miles, class-of-service PQM, Premier bonus miles, redeemable bonus miles or other promotional PQM.
In other words, a flight from New York-JFK to Los Angeles-LAX will earn you 4,950 United miles, instead of 2,475 United miles, but in terms of qualifying for United Premier Silver, Gold, Platinum or 1K status only 2,475 miles will count. Still, a double is better than a single, so register – it’s free – if you have some travel coming up on United before Thanksgiving.
